PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scanning optical device in which a polygon mirror is prevented from becoming large-size by bringing the front aperture close to the polygon mirror and dot displacement due to a variation in focusing is small. SOLUTION: The multi-beam scanning optical device is constituted in such a manner that the front aperture of the polygon mirror is formed into one body integrally with the lid member of an optical box.
