PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a liquid crystal display device whose response speed can be improved while suppressing degradation of display quality to the level unrecognizable by a user even when the ambient temperature changes, and whose circuit constitution is simple. SOLUTION: A modulation drive processing section 13 reads, in order to emphasize the gradation transition from a previous frame to a present frame, compensation image data corresponding to the combination of image data of the previous and present frame out of one look-up table and outputs it irrespective of the ambient temperature. Whereas, a temperature control circuit 7 controls a heater 5 and sets the target temperature in the range of 48°C-63°C, makes the heater 5 stop heating when the temperature of a panel 11 rises higher than the target temperature by the threshold level set between 1°C and 1.5°C, and makes the heater 5 start heating when the temperature of the panel 11 falls lower than the target temperature by the threshold level set between 1°C and 1.5°C.
