PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for automatically adjusting a brake shoe gap in a drum brake which apparatus can avoid the over-adjustment of an adjuster only by adding a simple component, when the working fluid pressure in a wheel cylinder has exceeded a required value. SOLUTION: A member 26 restricts the rotation of an adjuster lever 34 when the working fluid pressure in the wheel cylinder 22 has exceeded the required value. The member 26 for restricting the rotation is arranged between the wheel cylinder 22 and the adjuster lever 34, and is composed of an annular element fixed to a pin 36 rotatably provided on the brake shoe 25. Part of the annular element is brought into contact with a wheel piston 22b of the wheel cylinder 22 and another part 26a' of the annular element is loosely fitted into a long hole 34b of the adjuster lever 34.
