PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a construction method for a vertical shaft made of reinforced concrete, wherein casings different in outside diameter are held by a chuck mechanism and wherein a press-in method for a final casing is improved, and an auxiliary casing for use in the same. SOLUTION: Characteristically, in a press-in construction process wherein the casing C made of the reinforced concrete is pressed into natural ground along with sequential addition so that the vertical shaft can be constructed, the short cylinder-shaped detachable auxiliary casing B made of a steel plate is mounted on the casing C in a covering manner or coupled to the casing C in the inverted state of being turned upside down; and at separation by the chuck mechanism b of a casing press-in machine A, the auxiliary casing B is constantly held so that the casing C can be pressed into the natural ground. A flange part 13 is provided with a connecting hole 14 for connection, a protrusion 13a or a notch 13b, which is fit for an insertion hole 7 or a fitting recess/protrusion 2d/2e, arranged on an end surface part so as to connect the casings C with each other.
