PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To exhibit sufficient holding power without reducing rigidity of a workpiece holder. SOLUTION: This workpiece holder 10 has a tapered shaft 14 having a diameter becoming large toward the other end from one end. When inserting a cylindrical through-hole 18 formed in a workpiece 12 into the shaft 14, axial directional wedge-shaped cross-sectional clearance is formed between the cylindrical through-hole 18 of the workpiece 12 and the tapered shaft 14. The workpiece holder 10 also has an inserting body having an axial directional cross-sectional shape complementary to this clearance, and expandable in the radial direction. This inserting body 16 is inserted into clearance between the workpiece 12 and the shaft 14 from one end of the shaft 14. The inserting body 16 is expanded in the radial direction by pushing in the inserting body 16 toward the other end of the shaft 14, and the workpiece 12 is held on the shaft 14.
