PURPOSE: A method for transmitting packets between nodes having a multi-hop embedding system applied to a WDM(Wavelength Division Multiplexing) ring network is provided to use a single hop system in combination with a multi-hop system when transmitting packets, thereby securing fairness of packet transmissions and improving a traffic throughput. CONSTITUTION: A node confirms a destination node of a packet, and checks whether a home channel of the destination node is empty(ST701-ST703). If so, the node monitors a channel of a middle node, and checks whether the channel of the middle node is used(ST705,ST706). If not, the node transmits the packet to the middle node(ST707). The middle node temporarily storing the received packet transmits the corresponding packet to the destination node at next slot time(ST708). If the channel of the middle node is used, the node stands by packet transmission until the next slot time(ST709,ST710), and repeats the process.
