PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control the bias state of an optoelectronic element which emits light with luminance corresponding to a driving current.

SOLUTION: A pixel 2 has a capacitor C which holds data supplied from a data line X, a driving transistor T5 which sets the driving current according to the held data, an organic EL element OLED which is applied with a forward bias as a path for the driving current is formed to emit light with luminance corresponding to the driving current, and a transistor T4. An upstream-side voltage of the organic EL element OLED is controlled through this transistor T4 to apply a non-forward bias to the organic EL element OLED.
