PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a means which improves the frequency-temperature characteristic of a surface acoustic wave device constituted by using a rotated X-cut Z-propagation lithium tetraborate. SOLUTION: A surface acoustic wave device which is provided with at least one IDT electrode along the propagation direction of a surface wave on the principal surface of a piezoelectric substrate and has a zero first-order temperature coefficient and has a negative second-order temperature coefficient is stored in a package made of a material which has a higher coefficient of linear expansion than that of the piezoelectric substrate and is fixed by adhesion with an adhesive having higher hardness than JIS-A30.
