PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the load on an arithmetic circuit for performing an arithmetic operation for the camera control and an arithmetic operation for image stabilization control when a camera is in a prescribed state. SOLUTION: As for the photographing apparatus constituted so that a lens device equipped with an image stabilizing means for correcting the image on an image pickup surface can be attachably/detachably loaded and a supporting member for supporting the apparatus body can be attachably/detachably loaded to the apparatus, the photographing apparatus is provided with a vibration detecting means for detecting the vibration of the apparatus body, a control means for image stabilizing data for controlling the operation of the image stabilizing means based on the output from the vibration detecting means, and a communication means for transmitting the image stabilizing data formed by the control means to the lens device, and whether or not the supporting member is loaded on the apparatus body is distinguished by the control means based on the output of the vibration detecting means, and when it is confirmed that the supporting member is loaded on the apparatus body, the control means inhibits the communication means to transmit the image stabilizing data to the lens device.
