<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photographic print creation system and a control method therefor that enable an error check and remote setup and maintenance operations from an input side device, even in a system with an input side device and an output side device configured separately. <P>SOLUTION: The system connects a photographic print creation device (output side device) for creating a photographic print and an image recording device (input side device) for setting print creation conditions and controlling the output side device according to the conditions, via communication means. The output side device creates character information corresponding to an error and copy image data on a control screen and transmits them to the input side device, and the input side device combines the character string and copy image data with a default screen to create an error screen and a control screen.
