<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a service system and a method for erasing an individual portrait image on a Web server, capable of erasing the individual portrait image recorded in a Web server and displayed on the Internet against the individual's intention. <P>SOLUTION: The means for erasing an individual portrait image on the Web server comprises a part 122 for accepting an image to be erased, a Web server retrieval part 124 which sequentially retrieves an individual portrait image displayed on the Web server and enters the image, a part 126 for collating the characteristic points of the two images which compares and collates the characteristic points of the entered image with those of the individual portrait image to be erased, and which, if these characteristic points match, satisfying a certain criterion, judges the two images as being identical, and a part 127 for issuing a request for erasing an image record which transmits a request for erasing an image record to the Web sever that records the retrieved corresponding image by a prescribed procedure.
