PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily modify overlapping signal names. SOLUTION: A sequence program editing device detects the overlapping signal names used for a sequence program and displays positions used with the signal names in a list (100 and 101). It directly inputs new signal names by checking modifying sides from among the overlapping signal names and inputs a signal modification execution instruction (102 and 103). Alternatively, it inputs a signal range designation (104), sets the start and the end of the signal name (address), and sets classification of modification signals (105). Next, it extracts the names of the signals of the signal classification designated automatically, when inputting execution instructions (106 and 107) and sets and inputs them as the new signal names (108). Next, it automatically modifies the signal names overlapping designation positions for newly input signal names (110), if inputting the signal modification execution instruction (109).
