PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor provided with a brake or with a brake and an encoder which enables miniaturization. SOLUTION: The motor is provided with a frame 3 composed of a nonmagnetic and excellent heat conductive material on the outer periphery of an electromagnetic part, a cylindrical stator core 1 fixed to the inner peripheral side of the frame 3, an armature winding 2 arranged to the stator core 1 so as to constitute a prescribed magnetic pole, and a rotor R arranged on the inner peripheral side of the armature winding 2 so as to be freely rotatable via a clearance. The rotor R is constituted of a shaft 14, a rotor yoke 15 fixed to the shaft 14, and composed of a soft magnetic body, and permanent magnets 4 for the magnetic field arranged to the outer periphery of the rotor yoke 15 so as to alternately become a different pole for each prescribed pitch. And, the rotor yoke 15 is formed into a cylindrical shape. The brake having a cylindrical solenoid and a disk-like brake disk is arranged to a space on the inner peripheral side of the cylindrical part. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
