PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an eddy current type reduction gear unit in which a stator can be easily molded. SOLUTION: This eddy current type reduction gear unit 10 includes a rotor 11 mounted on a rotary shaft 1, and a stator 15 having a plurality of permanent magnets 23 disposed oppositely to the rotor 11 and disposed at a predetermined interval in the circumferential direction. In this eddy current type reduction gear unit 10, the stator 15 includes at least two annular magnetic members 21, 22 provided in a radial combination, and the plurality of the permanent magnets 23. A plurality of grooves 24a, 24b are formed axially at a predetermined interval in the circumferential direction on the combination surfaces 21a, 21b of the respective magnetic members 21, 22. The respective magnetic members 21, 22 are radially assembled to form a stator holder 25. The grooves 24a, 24b of the magnetic members 21, 22 are butted to form magnet inserting holes 26, and the permanent magnets 23 are inserted into the magnet inserting holes 26.
