PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous solution containing a block copolymer with a controlled molecular weight distribution. SOLUTION: During the preparation process of a block copolymer from a polymer (A), which is prepared by living radical polymerization of at least one kind of monomers and more than one kind of monomers (B) in an aqueous solution, the polymer (A) is added continuously or intermittently to the polymerization reaction solution to polymerize the polymer and the monomer (B). The process can control the molecular weight and prepare block copolymers having continuously or discontinuously varied molecular weights and meets various kinds of requirements at the same time.
