PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new indene compound useful as a raw material for producing a metallocene compound. SOLUTION: The new trisubstituted indene has three substituents. These three substituents are each a 1-10C alkyl, 1-10C haloalkyl, 1-10C silicon-containing alkyl, 6-16C aryl, 6-16C haloaryl, 2-10C alkenyl, 7-40C arylalkyl, 7-40C alkylaryl, 3-16C alicyclic hydrocarbon group, siloxy, alkoxy, amino, dialkyl-substituted amino, heterocyclic group, SRagroup or PRb2group; wherein at least one of these three substituents is a 2-10C alkyl, heterocyclic group or 6-16C aryl.
