摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an engineering means capable of providing a device at a lower cost, concerning a device and a method for assembling steel frame pillars that become the framework of a steel structure by alternately welding a joint and a stem. SOLUTION: A first stem 2 and joint 4 are supplied between a pillar end clamper 14 and a joint/stem clamper 15 which oppositely approach to and recede from each other and which synchronously indexingly rotates, with the first stem and joint clamped by the clamper on each side and connected by welding. Then, a steel frame pillar of a desired length is obtained by alternately repeating two processes, namely, a transfer process in which a semi-finished product connected by welding is retreated from a welding position B through the release by the joint/stem clamper and the approaching/receding operation of the pillar end clamper, and a welding process in which the next stem 2 or joint 4 is supplied to the welding position B opened by the transfer so as to be clamped by the joint/stem clamper and in which the joint 4 or the stem 2 welded by the process is positioned and connected by welding.
