PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems of a conventional image data interpolation device that has had difficulty of automatically and properly discriminating the property of an image such as logo and illustration images and a natural image, has performed improper interpolation processing under wrong discrimination, and has caused useless interpolation processing used to reproduce delicate gradation for the natural image when printing with low quality is actually performed. SOLUTION: First interpolation processing and 2nd interpolation processing are overlappingly applied to an image on the basis of a prescribed evaluation function. Since the evaluation function depends on the property of image quality, an interpolation processing ratio in response to the property of the image can be decided so as to increase a ratio of more proper interpolation processing thereby making the advantages of respective interpolation processing processes more conspicuous and not standing out disadvantages of the both. As a result, an error in deciding an interpolation method can be prevented on the basis of the discrimination of the property of an interpolation object image. Furthermore, increasing a superimposing ratio of more proper interpolation processing in response to the print quality affecting the effect of the interpolation processing can perform proper interpolation processing in response to the print quality. |
