A miniature optic switch with a minimum of moving parts uses a fluid to break the light path in a duct through the switch. The liquid is displaced by a micro-mechanical actuator, or by a piezo-electric actuator. The incident and exit light beams can be angled to each other, with a reflecting surface inside the light duct. Alternately the fluid can be moved into a space to block the light transmission between two optic elements.
|
