PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition which is a raw material for mica flake-containing resin useful as a pattern-forming agent for an artificial marble by blending a specific resin component with mica flakes. SOLUTION: This composition is prepared by blending (A) (preferably 30-99.9 wt.% of) a resin component composed of (a) a radical-polymerizable vinyl compound [e.g. a (meth)acrylate having a 1-20C alkyl] and (b) polymeric powder having a packing density of 0.1-0.9 g/ml and linseed oil absorption of 10-200 ml/100g [e.g. derived from such polymer as a (meth)acrylate having a 1-20C alkyl] and (B) 0.1-70 wt.% of mica flakes (preferably having an average size of greatest particle of 0.2-7 mm). It is possible to add preferably 20-70 wt.% of an inorganic filler (preferably aluminum hydroxide) to the composition and it is recommended that the ratio of the component (a) to the component (b) be 100 pts.wt.: (1-40) pts.wt. |
