The procedure for assembling the mitred corners of door and window frames made from combined metal (7) and plastic (8) extrusions consists of cutting the mitred ends of the frame members so that the edges (13) of the plastic extrusions project beyond the edges (10) of the metal ones. The additional length of the plastic extrusions allows the edges to be melted, e.g. by a heated plate (15), and pressed together to weld them, with any surplus plastic trimmed off afterwards.
