PURPOSE: A method for managing bookmark information and a contents reproduction method are provided to manage a predetermined desired recording section of a recording medium as bookmark information, and to selectively designate the bookmark information displayed through an OSD image. CONSTITUTION: A system judges a kind of a bookmark selected by a user. If the judged kind of the bookmark is a point bookmark, the system records an address of a specific position of contents as point bookmark information. If the judged kind of the bookmark is a section bookmark, the system records a start address and an end address of the specific section of the contents as section bookmark information.
