The invention relates to a method for extracting tantalum and/or niobium from an acidic aqueous phase. Said method includes at least one step that includes putting the aqueous phase A1 in contact with an organic phase, then separating the aqueous phase A1 from the organic phase. Said method is characterized in that the organic phase contains a (C1-C4 alkyl)-acetophenone as an extractant. The invention also relates to a method making it possible to recover tantalum and/or niobium from an acidic aqueous phase and implementing said extraction method. The invention also relates to applications for the treatment of natural and urban tantalum- and/or niobium-containing ores with a view to producing tantalum and/or niobium in metallic form or in the form of compounds such as the pentoxides Ta2O5 and Nb2O5.
