PURPOSE: An optical recording/reproducing method is provided to re-read data without reproducing the data if the data read from an optical recording medium has an error, and to reproduce the re-read data, thereby improving reproduction performance. CONSTITUTION: A device reads channel data from a CD(S301). The device designates a position by using subcode data of the read channel data, and perceives a kind of the data(S302), then buffers the channel data(S303). The device collects the subcode data to verify an error(S304), and decides whether the buffered channel data is smaller than a buffer empty margin(S305). If not, the device monitors an error generation situation of the collected subcode data(S306). The device decides whether an error is generated(S307). If not, the device transmits the channel data to a back end chip to decode main channel data(S309), and reproduces the decoded main channel data(S310).
