PURPOSE: A gas discharge display device is provided to prevent an air gap between glass substrates of a display region, and a discharge leakage during discharge of gas. CONSTITUTION: A gas discharge display device comprises a pair of glass substrates(2,3) opposed with each other with a sealing material interposed between the glass substrates; a first electrode arranged on one of the glass substrates; a second electrode arranged on the other of the glass substrates; barrier ribs formed between the second electrodes; and recess portions(7a) defined by the barrier ribs. A groove(21) for receiving a sealing material(22) is formed at one of the two glass substrates. The glass substrates are sealed with each other by the sealing material received in the groove.
