PURPOSE: An electrolyte for a lithium secondary battery is provided to prevent swelling at high temperature while improving the capacity and cycle life properties in a lithium secondary battery, thereby being suitably applied to a square type or a pouch type battery. CONSTITUTION: The electrolyte for a lithium secondary battery comprises: a non-aqueous organic solvent; a lactam compound selected from compounds represented by formulas 1 to 4; and a lithium salt, wherein R is selected from H, alkylene with C2-6 and a halogen atom; each of K, T, X, Y and Z is independently H or a halogen atom, wherein the amount of the lactam compound is 0.01-10wt% of the weight of the organic solvent, wherein the organic solvent is at least one selected from cyclic or linear carbonates, esters, ethers and ketones. |
