PURPOSE: A sialon fluorescent substance and a luminescence conversion diode containing the fluorescent substance are provided, to obtain good orange light fluorescent substances capable of replacing a YAG:Eu fluorescent substance. CONSTITUTION: The sialon fluorescent substance has an average diameter less than 10 micrometers and is represented by M¬v_m(1-x)/v Si_12-(m+n) Al_(m+n) On N_16-n : R_mx/v, wherein M is at least one element selected from the group consisting of Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, Sc, Y and La; R is at least one element capable of being added as an activator to the sialon ceramic structure, selected from the group consisting of Eu, Tb, Pr and Mn; v which is the valence of a metal M, is 2 or 3; m and n are a real number of 0-12; and x is a mole fraction of the activator replacing the metal M and 0<=x<=1. |
