The invention relates to a vertically disposed lighting device that allows for the even lighting and additional stabilization of shelves while at the same time allowing for the unhindered access to the individual shelves and additionally requiring less space in the top zone of the shelves as compared to conventional lighting devices. The inventive lighting device is further characterized in that it can be easily and quickly mounted on or dismounted from the shelves.
