Described is a method performed by a host computer (10) in a data processing system comprising the host computer and a peripheral device (20) connected to it, for monitoring the power supply status in the peripheral device, wherein the peripheral device is adapted to send status information to the host computer in response to the power supply voltage in the peripheral device falling below a specific threshold level. The method comprises the steps of (a) receiving said status information, (b) sending, after step (a), to the peripheral device a request to return current status information, (c) detecting whether or not a response is received to the request in step (b), and (d) determining that the power supply in the peripheral device has been turned off, if no response is detected in step (c). <IMAGE> |
