PURPOSE: An apparatus for testing a display device and a testing method using the apparatus are provided to detect a sensing element having a defect and the position of the sensing element. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus(100) for testing a display device(1) having pixels for displaying images and sensing elements(30) each of which is arranged between adjacent pixels to output sense signals in response to external stimulus includes an external stimulus applying unit(200) and a processing unit(600). The external stimulus applying unit applies external stimulus to each of the sensing elements. The processing unit detects the sense signal output from each sensing element in response to the external stimulus to process a defect of each sensing element.
