摘要 PURPOSE: A plasma display panel using a vertical synchronous signal of a normal period as a valid signal and a driving method thereof are provided to prevent damage of a driving switch due to generation of over-current by using only the vertical synchronous signal of the normal period through the vertical synchronous signal of an abnormal period is received. CONSTITUTION: A plasma display panel includes a plurality of address electrodes, a plurality of scan electrodes, and a plurality of sustain electrodes. An automatic power controller(30) is used for measuring a power level of inputted image data and controlling the power according to a measured power level. A subfield generator(60) is used for generating power control data as subfield data of N number and forming subfield according to an inputting state of a vertical synchronous signal. An address generator/controller(90) is used for generating and outputting address data from the image data of a gamma correction/error diffusion unit by referring to the subfield data. An address data driver(50) is used for applying a voltage corresponding to the address data to the address electrode. A sustain/scan pulse driver(70) is used for applying sustain pulses and scan pulses corresponding to the subfield data of N number to the sustain electrode and the scan electrode, respectively.
