The engine has a turbo compressor with a gas turbine (22) arranged in an exhaust conduit, and a combustion chamber (30). Gases comprising hydrogen and oxygen are burnt in the chamber for obtaining compressed gases having water vapor. The compressed gases distinct from exhaust gases are injected in the exhaust conduit when the engine functions at a speed greater than a hang-up speed of the turbine.
