PURPOSE: A method for preparing 1,5,9-triazacyclododecane-2,4-dione which is an intermediate of strongly basic amine extractants for solvent extraction of gold from alkaline cyanide solution is provided, thereby improving preparation yield of 1,5,9-triazacyclododecane-2,4-dione, releasing no toxic gas of HCN, and easily recovering gold after extraction. CONSTITUTION: The method for preparing 1,5,9-triazacyclododecane-2,4-dione which is an intermediate of strongly basic amine extractants for solvent extraction of gold from alkaline cyanide solution comprises condensing dialkylmalonate with bis-(3-aminopropyl) amine in the presence of metal alkoxide, wherein the strongly basic amine extractants is 1,5,9-triazacyclododecane derivatives of formula (1); R1, R2 and R3 are simultaneously hydrogen; and the metal alkoxide is sodium methoxide, sodium ethoxide or potassium quaternary butoxide. The 1,5,9-triazacyclododecane derivatives of formula (2) are prepared by selectively alkylation of 1,5,9-triazacyclododecane derivatives of formula (1) with C6-C18 alkyl.
