摘要 PURPOSE: A method for manufacturing an optical compensating film, an optical compensating film, a polarizing plate, and a liquid crystal device are provided to continuously and stably manufacture an optical compensating film having an excellent optical compensating function to an OCB(Optically Compensated Bend) type liquid crystal device, improve an optical compensating function of an optical compensating film, and supply the optical compensating film in a roll type. CONSTITUTION: A rubbing roller rubs a surface of a long support conveyed in length direction or a surface of an alignment film formed on the support. A solution containing a liquid crystal compound is applied on the rubbed surface. The liquid crystal compound layer is dried and the liquid crystal compound is aligned at a temperature higher than a liquid crystal transfer temperature. The alignment is fixed to form an optical anisotropic layer. A long accumulated-substance having the optical anisotropic layer is wound. Rotary direction of the rubbing roller is set up at an angle satisfying the following expression 45<ATAN{(A x B x π x SIN(α/180 x π ))/(A x B x π x COS(α/180 x π) + C x 1000)}/ π x 180 < 50, wherein α indicates a crossing angle of the rubbing rotation direction and a film conveyance direction, 'A' indicates an RPM(Revolutions Per Minute) of the rubbing roller, 'B' indicates a diameter of the rubbing roller, and C indicates a conveyance speed of the support.
