PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a harmonic overtone generation method by which a feeling of low-frequency sound is felt more in an acoustic signal processor which increases the feeling of low-frequency sound by performing harmonic overtone generation. SOLUTION: A band division means 6 extracts low-frequency sound components for performing the harmonic overtone generation from an inputted signal and divides the extracted low-frequency sound components into signals by every frequency band. Harmonic overtone generation means 4a to 4c provided by every frequency band generate harmonic overtones regarding outputted signals of band-pass filters 5a to 5c, respectively. The generated harmonic overtones and the inputted signal via a delay device 3 are outputted to the outside via a high-pass filter 8 after being added together by an adder 7b. The number of harmonic overtones to be generated by a harmonic overtone generation means with higher frequency band is made to be equal to or less than the number of harmonic overtones to be generated by a harmonic overtone generation means with lower frequency band. Continuous harmonic overtone strings are generated with small amount of operation and the harmonic overtones are intensively generated with low frequency in a reproducible band of a speaker.
