PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic sensor capable of restraining noise from being generated, and a paper currency identifier capable of preventing effectively jamming (paper clogging) from being generated. SOLUTION: This magnetic sensor 1 is provided with a case 3 for holding a magnetic detecting element 2, and a cover 4 for covering a magnetic detecting face 3a of the case 3. The cover 4 is engaged with the case 3, the cover 4 is provided with an upper face portion 4a faced to the magnetic detecting face 3a of the case 3, slope portions 4b provided in both sides of the upper face portion 4a, and side face portions 4c continued to the upper face portion 4a via the slope portions 4b, and the case 3 has spaces S in positions opposed to the slope portions 4b of the cover 4.
