PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intumescent fire-resistant coating which contains no organic solvent and is suitably usable as an environment-friendly type coating. SOLUTION: This coating has the components of 100 parts by weight of (I) an intumescent fire-resistant powder, which intumesces at the time for the surrounding temperature due to a fire to reach the given intumesceing temperature, and of 0.5-100 parts by weight of (II) a binder. The intumescent fire-resistant powder (I) can be obtained by a method, or the like, of melt-kneading a mixture comprising at least a resin component, a flame-retardant, a foaming agent, a carbonizing agent and a filler and then of pulverizing it.
