METHOD OF USING A HANDHELD MEMORY DEVICE FOR A MOBILE TELEPHONE

A handheld memory device (41) for a mobile telephone (40) is disclosed. The handheld memory device (41) stores video and/or audio data, e.g. moving pictures, photographs and music, whereby said video and/or audio data is sent to the mobile telephone (40) for displaying the video data on the display of the mobile telephone (40) and/or for reproducing the audio data. Furthermore, large amount of data generated by the mobile telephone, e.g. images, moving pictures and call details, can be transferred from the mobile telephone (40) to the handheld memory device (41). The handheld memory device (41) is releasable connectable to the mobile telephone (40) by means of an external connection port provided at the mobile telephone. Either the connection port of the handheld memory device (41) directly plugs in said external connection port in a mating arrangement, or an additional converter (42) may be disposed between the external connection port of the mobile telephone (40) and the connection port of the handheld memory device (41) for the purpose of physically interfacing the unmating ports with each other. The handheld memory device (41) provides a small and portable mass storage memory means for storing auxiliary data being exchanged with the mobile telephone (40) in both directions.
