<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information acquiring method for easily providing/acquiring desired information. <P>SOLUTION: A PC, printer, and the other device equipped with an IEEE 1394 I/F respectively are connected through an IEEE 1394 bus, and when the PC downloads printer driver software stored in the printer, the printer maps the file image of the printer driver in a preliminarily decided offset address 0123-45670000h. According to the asynchronous read transaction from the PC to a serial bus address FFC2h-0123-45670000h, the PC performs access to the offset address and reads the mapped file image. Consequently, it does not require much resources such as a memory or network band for download, and a user can be released from the management of a recording medium in which the driver software is recorded. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
