PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery mounting device and a battery mounting method which detect incomplete mounting of a battery and prevent the closing of a cover lid regardless of incompletely mounted battery, when a battery is mounted. SOLUTION: A terminal 4 at a cabinet side is arranged at an end of a battery holding portion 3, and a locking lever 15 that inclines by weight of the battery 32 is provided at the other end side. When the battery 32 is held in the battery holding portion 3, the battery is held by shifting it to one end side of the battery holding portion 3, then the locking lever 15 is inclined by the weight of the battery 32 so that the cover lid 41 may not be closed by interfering with a tip 18 of the locking lever 15 at a position of the cover lid 41 of the battery holding portion 32. After that, the battery 32 is placed close to an end side to fit a terminal 33 at a battery side with the terminal 4 at the cabinet side, by which the other end of the battery 32 is estranged from the locking lever 15 to return the locking lever 15 to an original position, and the cover lid 41 is mounted.
