PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrolytic cell having a gas diffusion electrode which is arranged with a number of gas diffusion electrodes and has a large electrode area. SOLUTION: The electrolytic cell having the gas diffusion electrode is constituted by airtightly joining the circumferential of an electrode surface facing the counter electrode side of the gas diffusion electrode to a joining frame section formed at a frame-shaped member, has a perfluorosulfonic acid layer, persulfonyl fluoride layer or alkyl ester perfluorocarboxylate layer on the joint surface of at least the joining frame section of the frame-shaped member with the frame-shaped member and has the frame-shaped member laminated through gaskets in the peripheral part of the frame-shaped member.
