A lock assembly who’s handedness can be changed is disclosed. The lock assembly includes a lock body (12), a lock barrel (14), a handing cam (16) and a handing cam retainer (18). The lock barrel is received in and rotatable with respect to the lock body. The handing cam is adapted to engage the lock barrel and be movable between first and second orientations which is restricted by impending means (20 and 22). The handing cam retainer is adapted to engage the handing cam which during installation is selectively disposed in either the first or second orientation. The handing cam retainer is detachably connected (by screws 48) to the lock barrel in order to facilitate fastening of the handing cam onto the lock barrel in the selected orientation. The present invention also relates to a kit for installation of, and a method of installing, the lock assembly. |
