The invention relates to the design of code checkers for recognising unidirectional errors which falsify the maximum t random bits or a group of continuous bits. Said design method is based on information on weights and test symbol values of the code words. The checkers have a simple and regular structure. Said structure is not dependent on the amount of code words generated by the circuit and is monitored by the checker, provided that no circuit exit assumes a constant value and that the code words appear in a random sequence. The checkers are extremely suitable as embedded checkers since they are self-tested in very weak conditions with reference to simple adhesive errors and nearly all combinatory errors in the individual circuit cells. All checkers can be tested with 2 or 3 code words. |
