The shredder has a slowly turning shredding roller (14) with peripherally spread out shredding tools (14) which can be fitted on tool holders on the roller whilst counter cutters are fitted on tool holders of counter cutter tool supports and are fixed by spring-loaded securing bolts. The securing bolts pass through an opening in the tool holders and are supported with spring tension against the opposite sides of the shredding tool and counter cutting tool respectively. The securing bolts preferably engage positively with the sides of the tool holders. The shredding tools are arranged in two or four spirals round the roller.
