COLORANT FOR CLAY AND WATER-CONTAINING SETTING TYPE CLAY USING THE SAME

A colorant for clay which comprises fine particles of a colored resin prepared by mixing a fine powder of a pigment or an oil-soluble dye, or a processed colorant from the powder with a resin, subjecting the resultant mixture to heat fusing kneading or heat softening kneading, and cooling and then pulverizing the resultant kneaded product. The above colorant for clay can be used for preventing the elution of a colorant by water from a colored synthetic water-containing setting type clay. For example, the above colorant for clay which has been subjected to size classification so as to contain only the fine particles having a particle diameter of 1.15 microns or more and another colorant for clay prepared by subjecting the above colorant and a water-insoluble and non-volatile liquid or half-solid to uniform kneading can both provide a safe chromatically colored water-containing setting type clay which is capable of fully satisfying the test for the elution by water provided in a self-imposed control standard (ST Mark recognition standard) by The Japan Toy Association.
