<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a partially stabilized sintered zirconia compact by which thermal impact resistance can be enhanced. <P>SOLUTION: The ZrO<SB>2</SB>-MgO-based sintered zirconia compact has the crystalline phase of ZrO<SB>2</SB>composed of monoclinic zirconia, tetragonal zirconia and cubic zirconia, and (a) contains the monoclinic zirconia at 65 to 85 vol%, (b) is specified in the molar ratio of MgO/ZrO<SB>2</SB>to 7/93 to 9/91, (c) contains SiO<SB>2</SB>at 0.05 to 0.5wt.%, (d) contains 0.5 to 1.5 wt.% Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, and (e) is specified in thermal expansion from room temperature to 1,400°C to ≤0.45%. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
