<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recorder in which stability is enhanced at the time of maintenance when a movable unit, e.g. a rotary drum or an optical unit, is provided. <P>SOLUTION: The image recorder comprises a rotary drum for holding a recording sheet, and a means for recording an image on a recording sheet wound around the rotary drum while moving in the direction of the rotating axis of the rotary drum which are disposed in a housing, a means for detecting opening/closing of the cover of the housing, and an alarm generating means.
