PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive mechanism capable of securely preventing damage to a cargo and failure in catching a seat pallet when opening and closing a grip means. SOLUTION: This gripper mechanism is provided with a pantograph arm 5 supporting a face plate 2 backing up the cargo so as to advance and retract freely, a push-pull cylinder 7 driving the pantograph arm 5, and a gripper 11 arranged in a lower part of the face plate 2 to grip an object to be gripped. This gripper 11 is provided with a lever 13 which has a gripper bar 17 at a lower end of an elevating rod 16 performing opening and closing operation for a gripper jaw 30 on a fixed side, drives the gripper bar by a push-pull cylinder 7, and converts operation of the push-pull cylinder 7 into linear movement by preceding operation of the pantograph arm 5 when operating the push-pull cylinder to transmit it to the elevating rod 16.
