PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display of the counter information which provides a user with no sense of incongruity by synchronizing a real time counter displayed on a monitor counter with the residual amount of the recordable time. SOLUTION: An information recorder has a system controller 10 for displaying the record counter information (real time counter) of a counter 15 about the recording time on a display device 21 when recording is performed on an optical disk 1. The system controller 10 is provided with a calculation function for calculating the residual amount of the recordable time, displays the real time counter and the residual amount of the recordable time calculated by the calculation function in numerical values on the screen of the display device 21, synchronizes the numerical value display of the displayed residual amount of the recordable time with the real time counter to change the numerical value display independently of the residual quantity of the recordable time calculated by the calculation function.
