PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coated high speed steel tool extremely improved in abrasion resistance by improving the hardness, or a defect of an (AlCr)N-based film, and consequently exhibiting a superior service life of the tool. SOLUTION: This coated high speed steel tool is so formed that the coating is coated by an arc discharge type ion plating method, is composed of at least one layer or more of (AlxCr1-x-ySiy)(N1-α-β-γBαCβOγ) (where, 0.45<x<0.85, 0≤y<0.35, 0.50≤x+y<1.0, 0≤α<0.15, 0≤β<0.65, 0<γ<0.65, and 0<α+β+γ≤1.0), has a diffracted intensity on a (200) surface of evaporitic structure type, has its peak half-width of not less than 0.5°and not more than 2.0°, and has a binding energy between, at least, Al, Cr and/or Si and oxygen in a range from 525 eV to 535 eV in an X-ray photoelectron spectrometry analysis. The base body of this high speed steel tool is composed of powdered high speed steel, and the sum of V and Co is 10≤(V+Co)≤20, where Cr is 2≤Cr≤6.
